The power of positive thinking and being able to identify emotions in the classroom should not be underestimated. An understanding of the role emotions play in learning can help both educators and students contribute to this power.

Modeling Positive thinking
Teachers can have automatic negative thoughts and fall into a negative thought loop just like their students. Modeling positive thinking for students is important, but not always easy! If you are having a hard time seeing the positive, take a look at these tips for staying positive during trying times.
Tip of the Month
Gratitude journalling is an easy and effective way to encourage positive thinking. A study that took place in 2021 showed that adults who used a gratitude app for six weeks were less depressed, anxious, and stressed than those who did not use the app. Even though participants only practiced gratitude journaling for six weeks, the positive impacts lasted until week 12.
